Wellington self-generating power through 5 p.m. today

The City of Wellington will reconnect ties with Westar Energy this afternoon (Feb. 23) around 5 p.m. after some scheduled maintenance that needed to be done on the transmission line East of town.

Wellington has been self generating power with the city's gas turbine (pictured below) since 7 a.m. Monday morning. If an unexpected problem does occur, power will be restored with Westar within a couple of hours.

The last regular season home basketball games will take place at Wellington High School this evening with Circle coming to town, it will be senior night. WHS will travel to Clearwater to finish the regular season on Friday. The Sub-State tournaments begins March 3 and will be in Wellington for both boys and girls teams.

State Wrestling is this coming Saturday in Salina, Wellington does have one qualifier in 4A regional heavyweight champ, Miguel Lujan who is 37-9 on the season.
