On Monday, August 20th, each USD 353 school facility will be having an OPEN HOUSE from 1pm to 7pm! Please stop by any of the schools, tour the buildings and visit with staff. Everyone is welcome!
USD 353 LONGEVITY AWARDS were presented and this year's RETIREES were honored at the annual USD 353 Employee Recognition Program held at WHS Wednesday morning. Also presented, the EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD from the USD 353 Foundation for the 2017 school year.
Wellington had two bomb threats on Friday morning, Feb. 24.
The first dispatch went over scanners at 9:19 a.m. As a “possible bomb threat at Eisenhower School, 924 N. Plum.” The threat was made over the phone at approximately 9:15 a.m.
“The call sounded like a computer generated message,” said USD 353 Superintendent, Mark Whitener. “It sounded automated, but it may have been someone using some kind of device with their voice, but we don't know for sure.”

1. Meeting Opening
Summer officially ended today for most of USD 353 students - the 2016-2017 school year is up and running! The doors are open at all facilities, many new changes have occurred, it's going to be a great year! The upper classmen at WHS will not begin until tomorrow, Wednesday the 24th. Today at WHS is orientation day for the incoming Freshmen and also the new students at the home of the Crusaders...and we have a new mascot wandering around - awesome stuff!

A Special USD 353 BOE Meeting was held Tuesday afternoon at Central Office. Much of the public meeting was with architects associated with Bond Issue projects across the school district.
The Board then went into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel - after several short executive sessions the Board returned to open session and the following announcements were made:
