Haskins-Ybarra case gets continuance

Eric Haskins-Ybarra appeared before Judge Scott McQuin Thursday, March 23. Haskins-Ybarra was granted a continuance to obtain a video from the Kansas Turnpike and also for the purpose of securing an attorney.

His next appearance is set for Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

Haskins-Ybarra was arrested Feb. 1 on a Sumner County Warrent for two counts of Domestic Battery, along with Robbery, Malicious Cruelty to an Animal and Cruelty to an Animal. He was released from the Sumner County Jail after post at $10,000 bond.

Frank T. Malsom

Frank T. Malsom, 82, a Wellington resident since 1966, passed away Saturday morning, March 18, 2017 at Newton Medical Center in Newton, KS.  Frank began working for Sumner Cowley Electric in 1966 and retired in 1989. 
Frank was born on May 7, 1934 in Gove, KS to Nicholas Malsom and Marie (Hartman) Malsom.
Frank married Dorothy Hemmert on October 12, 1953 in Oakley, KS.
Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, and his dog, Buddy.

Leckrone to undergo evaluation from SMHC

Helen Leckrone appeared in court March 16. Attorney, Mike Brown requested a continuance from Judge Mott to follow this week's evaluation by Sumner Mental Health Center.

Leckrone's next court appearance is April 6 at 9 a.m. 31-year old Leckrone was booked in the Sumner County Jail on Feb. 24 with a charge of two Counts of Aggravated Criminal Threat. She is being held on a $20,000 bond, reduced from the original $100,000.
