A tradition that began as far back as World War II continued on Friday evening at Wellington High School. Following the boys varsity basketball game, the 2015-2016 Duke of Wellington was crowned in front of approx. 1,000 people who hung around after the games to see who this year's DUKE would be! What a group of candidates too! A couple weeks ago, the Senior Girls nominated Julian Cornejo, Wesley Gilmore, Connor Phelps, Jared Shields and Nate Ybarra as this school year's candidates - all "5" are fine young men, all "5" very well known and liked.
Congratulations to this school year's DUKE CANDIDATES! The big announcement was made Friday at Wellington High School and the Coronation will take place on Friday, Feb. 12th, following the boys varsity game in the main gym.
This year's candidates, L to R are:
Jared Shields * Julian Cornejo * Nate Ybarra * Connor Phelps * Wesley Gilmore
A fine group of young men - FORMAL Duke Pics will be taken this coming weekend - watch for those late Sunday!
