Vandalism suspects in custody

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Wellington Police have identified two juvenile males, currently in custody, responsibility for the recent rash of vandalism in our community.

Investigators are currently preparing paperwork to be presented to the Sumner County Attorney’s office later this week.

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Wellington Police is requesting the communities assistance locating and/or identifying the person(s) responsible for an overnight rash of vandalism. Numerous downtown business windows to include vehicle windows were damaged on March 31, including windows on the Wellington Police DARE vehicle.

Police are currently investigation and reviewing video surveillance. Any information you may have contact the Wellington Police Department at 620-326-3331, Wellington Sumner County Crimestoppers at 620-326-3135 or Sumner County E911. A reward has been offered

Haskins-Ybarra case gets continuance

Eric Haskins-Ybarra appeared before Judge Scott McQuin Thursday, March 23. Haskins-Ybarra was granted a continuance to obtain a video from the Kansas Turnpike and also for the purpose of securing an attorney.

His next appearance is set for Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

Haskins-Ybarra was arrested Feb. 1 on a Sumner County Warrent for two counts of Domestic Battery, along with Robbery, Malicious Cruelty to an Animal and Cruelty to an Animal. He was released from the Sumner County Jail after post at $10,000 bond.

Leckrone's court hearing continued

Helen Leckrone was in court March 9, 2017. Attorney, Mike Brown requested a continuation of her case.

Judge Mott set her next appearance for Thursday, March 16 at 9 a.m. Leckrone is being held on a $20,000 bond.

31-year old Leckrone was booked in the Sumner County Jail on Feb. 24 with a charge of two counts of Aggravated Criminal Threat.

Wellington Subway robbed Wednesday, suspect not in custody

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Wednesday, March 8th 2017 around 8:40pm a white male, dressed in a black hooded, dark colored pants, wearing “Skelton gloves” entered Subway, 715 N. G St. and after ordering a sandwich, lifted up the front part of the hoodie, exposing the handle of a suspected pistol in his waistband and demanded money from the clerk.  The clerk complied and the robber left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Wellington man arrested for dog abuse, domestic battery

Eric D. Haskins-Ybarra, 27, of Wellington, was arrested Feb. 1 on a Sumner County warrant for two counts of domestic battery, robbery, malicious cruelty to an animal and cruelty to an animal.

Haskins-Ybarra was released from the Sumner County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond which includes special conditions that he have no contact with the victim in the domestic battery charges.
