The new school year in Unified School District 353 is about to commence with numerous additions and changes including a new principal at Wellington High School, Mr. John Buckendorff. John, beginning his 4th year in the district, the previous 3 as Vice-Principal at WHS under then Principal Adam Hatifield. Mr. Hatfield is now downtown in the role of Assistant Superintendent and Mr. Buckendorff along with the new Vice-Principal Dr.

Wellington Charity Fantasy Football League presents check to The Bryce Day Memorial Foundation

WELLINGTON, Kan. - During the Feb. 23 Chamber Coffee at Daylight Donuts, a ceremonial check was presented to The Bryce Day Memorial Foundation from the Wellington Charity Fantasy Football League. The league commissioner, Nate Jones of Sumner Communications' along with the league’s year-three champion, Tytus Cornejo of the Cornejo-Day Funeral Home, and handed the $900 check to Treasurer of the BDMF, Betty Zeka.

Local businesses create Eisenhower "Fan Tunnel"

 Each month at Eisenhower Elementary a character trait is featured and learned about, this month it was "fairness." On the days of the school assembly, different community groups are invited to the school to help get the day started by participating in the "fan tunnel." The Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce and businesses from around the community were apart of the fan tunnel on Tuesday morning, Jan. 31. See more sights in the video below.

Cowley College President speaks at Chamber banquet

Dr. Dennis Rittle, President of Cowley College took some time on Friday, Jan. 20 to address those in attendance of the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB Annual Celebration. Rittle spoke about his recent trip to Topeka and about the Sumner County campus project soon becoming a reality. Watch the entire speech in the video above.
