Leckrone to undergo evaluation from SMHC

Helen Leckrone appeared in court March 16. Attorney, Mike Brown requested a continuance from Judge Mott to follow this week's evaluation by Sumner Mental Health Center.

Leckrone's next court appearance is April 6 at 9 a.m. 31-year old Leckrone was booked in the Sumner County Jail on Feb. 24 with a charge of two Counts of Aggravated Criminal Threat. She is being held on a $20,000 bond, reduced from the original $100,000.

Judge Mott set her next appearance for Thursday, March 16 at 9 a.m. Leckrone is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Wellington woman taken into custody after bomb threats

WELLINGTON, Kan. - Friday, February 24th 2017 Wellington Police responded to a reported bomb threat at Eisenhower Elementary school, located in the 900 Block North Plum.  Students were evacuated to a safe location and the Kansas Highway Patrol bomb detection dogs were called to the scene.  While investigating this report, a second bomb threat call was received at Triumph Accessories, located on north West Rd, north of Wellington.

Bomb threat evacuates South Haven schools

A bomb threat caused South Haven USD 509 to evacuate school buildings Thursday morning, Feb. 23. After a sweep of the building by the bomb squad no threat was found.

The Sumner County Sheriff Department received the call from dispatch shortly after 10 a.m.

“Some of the students let the Superintendent know they believed there was a bomb in a backpack of one of the students there,” said Sergeant, Casey Allison via phone Thursday afternoon.“...We ended up calling the bomb squad after evacuating the school and no bomb was found in the backpack.”
