The WHS Wrestlers were in action Saturday at 2 different venues. We had "2" Lady Crusaders at the State Girls Wrestling Tournament in McPherson, Mackenzie Heacock and Alexis Patee. Heacock finished at 2-2 on the day, finishing 4th and Patee went 1-4, finishing 5th. There were 79 teams and 220 girls this year at the State Tournament. Up 107 girls from last year. KSHSAA will vote sometime in April, as to whether the Girls State Tournament should be "sanctioned". It is believed that vote will be affirmative. Congrats to both Mackenzie and Alexis for their fine showings up north!
At Remington on Saturday, did receive these notable results for the day:
113 lbs. Brennan Cantrell 3-2 (3rd)

145 lbs. DaVontre Parker 2-2 (4th)
182 lbs. Kanden Young 5-0 (1st)

Congratulations to the new 4A State Scholars Bowl Champion, Topeka Hayden! Coming in 2nd place Saturday at WHS in the State 4A Tournament was Shawnee Mission-Bishop Miege. 3rd Place honors went to Garnett-Anderson Co. and 4th place to Towanda-Circle. Other 4A State Qualifiers included Winfield, Augusta, Abilene, and Tonganoxie.
The teams began arriving around 10:30AM, were fed lunch, team pics were taken, and soon, the tournament was underway. Numerous volunteers from the community assist with these events - their assistance is priceless and greatly appreciated. The WHS Scholars Bowl Team, coached by Sarah House, hosted the tournament, not the first State tournament held here at Wellington.
